Student Council Overview
Student Council Association
Lead. Inspire. Make an Impact.
What is the SCA?
Middle school is your time to step up and be heard. The Student Council Association (SCA) at South Effingham Middle School empowers students to develop leadership skills, promote school spirit, and engage in the democratic process.
As a student-led organization, the SCA organizes school-wide events and activities to make middle school more engaging, inclusive, and fun. More importantly, it provides a direct platform for students to voice concerns, share ideas, and influence positive change within our halls.
Why Join?
Joining the Student Council helps you grow as a leader while building vital communication, organization, and decision-making skills. It’s an incredible way to meet new people, give back to your community, and it looks great on future applications and resumes when you head to high school.
We are looking for students who are:
- Creative & Communicative
- Responsible & Team-oriented
- Committed to attending meetings and events
Eligibility & Expectations
SCA members are expected to lead by example—both in and out of the classroom. To run for office and maintain your position, you must:
- Maintain a 70+ average in all classes.
- Have no major disciplinary infractions (e.g., insubordination, disruption, truancy).
- Attend all monthly meetings (3 unexcused absences = removal). Meetings are held at 7:35 AM in the Learning Commons.
- Serve on committees, contribute to events, and actively represent your peers.
2026–2027 Election Information
Open to all 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students. You may run for one of the following positions for your grade level: President, Vice President, or Representative. If multiple students apply for the same office, you will need to campaign.
