Meet the leadership team at South Effingham Middle School.
Christy Brown
Principal
My name is Christy Brown, and I am proud to serve as the principal of South Effingham Middle School. I have worked in the Effingham County School District since 2003 serving in various roles including teacher at Marlow Elementary, assistant principal at South Effingham Middle, and principal of Sand Hill Elementary. It is with great honor that I’m back at South Middle where I started my administration career. Go Mustangs! I believe that all students can learn, given a positive and safe environment in which all stakeholders collaborate together.
South Effingham Middle School’s theme this year is “What We Do Here Changes the World”. We will focus on the growth of all members of the South Middle family. We understand that in order to be great, we have to continue to reflect on our practices and strive to grow each day. We are also excited to start our fourth year incorporating school-wide STEAM linking hands-on experiences at Honey Ridge Agricenter with grade level standards. Other major focuses this year will be safety and building strong relationships with our South Effingham families.
Last school year, we were honored to be certified as a Cognia STEAM School. This year, we will continue to receive professional development to strengthen our STEAM program. STEAM provides our students the opportunity to work hands-on at our campus and at Honey Ridge to solve real world problems. We know that this work will increase student engagement and learning. I have been a part of the South Effingham Middle School family for over 18 years serving as a teacher, coach, and currently as Instructional Supervisor/Assistant Principal. I truly feel that we have the best faculty and staff who are all dedicated to helping the students at SEMS live up to their full potential. A few of my responsibilities at SEMS include the management of Curriculum/Instruction, School Budgets, Master Schedules, Student Schedules and 7th grade administrator.
Jeremy Turner
Assistant Principal
Hello Mustangs! I am honored and excited to serve as assistant principal at SEMS. South Effingham is home to my family.
I am a proud 2004 graduate of South Effingham High School. I received my bachelor's degree in Health and Physical Education from Georgia Southern University. Upon graduation, I began my teaching career at South Effingham Middle School in 2009. I also obtained a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix in 2012.
I have served as an assistant football and baseball coach at SEHS, and head track coach at SEMS. My wife Kristen (SEHS alumnus) and I have been married since 2012 and have two kids, Brock and Blakeley.
I look forward to serving the great students and faculty at South Effingham Middle School.
Mallory Dasher
Assistant Principal
My name is Mallory Dasher, and I am excited to work with you and your students here at South Effingham Middle School. I have worked in various roles at various locations in our district including Special Education teacher, Reading Recovery teacher and Reading Recovery Teacher Leader.
